At TMJ Physical Therapy, our story begins with a simple yet powerful mission: to provide answers and relief to those who have been let down by the traditional healthcare system. For too long, patients with Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ/TMD), lockjaw, tinnitus, and related conditions have been given the runaround—passed from one specialist to another without finding real solutions.
As the founder of TMJ Physical Therapy, Dr. Taher Abouelleil, DPT, I know what it’s like to see patients struggle. A Doctor of Physical Therapy graduate of SUNY Downstate Medical Center (2010), I’ve spent over a decade honing my skills and developing innovative, manual techniques that are unique to our facility. These techniques are not just effective—they’re groundbreaking. In fact, they’re currently part of an ongoing clinical trial aimed at revolutionizing the way TMJ disorders are treated.
This trial treatment is yielding a very high level of success, with a 98.4% success rate among over 250 patients treated in the last year alone. What’s more, nearly a dozen of these patients are local health professionals in the field—dentists, physical therapists, an oral surgeon and other clinicians—who are now referring their own patients to us. Their trust and endorsement speak volumes about the effectiveness of our approach.
Our goal? To make this approach the new gold standard in TMD treatment.
What sets us apart is our commitment to innovation, research, and education. Not only are we transforming lives through our unique techniques, but we’re also preparing to teach these methods to other practitioners. Soon, what we’ve pioneered here will become the foundation for a new era of TMJ treatment.
Every patient who walks through our doors is more than just a set of symptoms; they’re someone who deserves to live without pain. Whether you’ve been struggling with TMJ issues for months or decades, we’re here to listen, to understand, and to provide the specific answers you’ve been searching for.
Our story is still being written—one patient, one breakthrough, and one success at a time. And we’d be honored to make you a part of it.
